October Welcome

Hello!

We missed you all Sunday, but hope you had a relaxing, and peaceful conference weekend.  I'm guessing there were a lot of cinnamon rolls made and consumed, just as it should be.  At our house,we made a double batch of pumpkin muffins, and they didn't last long.  Did anybody do any flower bulb planting? I promise it's worth the little bit of work it takes come Spring-time.

Announcements:

First off, thank you to all who helped clean the church last month.  We really appreciate that service.

-Oct 8th-  9am-4 new chapel open house.  What should we be calling that chapel?
-Oct 8th-  Pine wood derby at 6pm.  Families welcome, and boys should wear scout shirts if possible.
-Oct 15th- Super Saturday! Have you paid your money to Amanda Hart? If not please do so ASAP! Also, come for fun, classes, breakfast, or a break from the kids....
**It's been brought to my attention that if we are able, we have been asked to please bring donations of cleaning supplies, and toiletries to Super Saturday to help with our service project for the refugees. Things like: toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, hygiene products, soaps, laundry detergent, shampoos.... We are grateful for the generosity and donations that have already been made.

This Sunday is "Fast Sunday", and Sister Hart will be teaching our presidency lesson.  I'm thinking there may be some discussion involving General conference ;)

So many incredible talks and messages, from the men and women of our church.  This was a favorite quotation of mine:

I know each one of us have our individual struggles whether they are "seen" or not.  I was talking to a friend going through something incredibly difficult that shared this story with me.  A friend of hers was going through cancer and had lost all her hair, so went out and about with her bald head.  Random people would approach her, give her a hug and tell her they wished the best for her, or they were praying for her etc.  She said it was so loving and encouraging to her, and yet she said, "if each one of us who was experiencing pain or sorrow was walking around with a bald head, alerting others to their suffering, people would be much more compassionate to one another."   I'm sure you've each heard the saying below. Always a good reminder to be kind and looking out for those around us.  So often their struggle is unseen.

Anyone else struggling with dinner time? Thankfully it's cool enough to throw something in the crock pot and have it ready when dinner rolls around.  If you need something quick, yummy and uses up those canned goods in your pantry, here's one to try.

Taco Soup
1 Cup ( or more) chicken, canned works well, or grab a rotisserie chicken- Easy peasy
1 can black beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can diced tomatoes with lime juice and cilantro
1 can creamed corn
2 C water
1 envelope or "ranch" seasoning
1/2-1 envelop of taco seasoning
1 T. dried onion, or 1/2 c fresh onion diced
-Heat through, add crushed chips, sour cream, avocado, whatever you want! If you want it more stew like, add more beans of your choice, or reduce water.  This is a great recipe for your food storage items. Enjoy!

**Ladies if you would like an actual manual for next year of President Hinckley, instead of using a computer or device, please comment with your name on this post, or reply to the mail with your name so we can get a count please.

Hope you're all well!
