Did you get caught in the snowy bluster yesterday? Other than the trash cans blowing down the lane, I kind of loved it.  Christmas just isn't christmas without some snow, and maybe some chestnuts roasting over and open fire... ok, well maybe just the snow, and definitely silver bells! ;-)






A Huge thank you to the Powers and several other families on the committee, for  a fun, well thought out Christmas party.  With yummy food, games, and a rousing rendition of Family Feud it was a good time.  And I'm pretty sure Brother Butler could have his place show business should he ever choose. Good times.  Feeding and entertaining is a ward our size is no small task and we very much appreciate it.

Today, I had the chance to participate in the run through for the program for our sacrament meeting Christmas day.  I quickly felt the spirit as some of our men sang a beautiful song and words of love, encouragement and celebration of the season were expressed.  I'm quite anxious for Christmas Sunday.  I'm looking forward to partaking of the sacrament and worshiping our savior in church on that day.  I wish Christmas was on the sabbath every year.  Those who may be traveling we wish you safe travels and a merry Christmas.  As a reminder we will meet on Christmas morning at 9 just for that meeting.  Also, fast Sunday will be postponed from the first Sunday in January until the second week January 8th.

Last week Sister Miller taught a beautiful lesson, #23 "No Less Serviceable".  A quote from the lesson:

"Most of us will be quiet, relatively unknown folks who...do our work without fanfare.  To those of you who may find that...unspectacular, I say, you are 'no less serviceable' than the most spectacular of your associates."  

Sidney ended by showing a beautiful Mormon message "What shall we give the babe in the manger?" watch here,   the music is as beautiful as the message.


Are you participating in the light the world challenge? Tomorrow (Sunday) is "Jesus honored the sabbath day and so can you", If you are participating, has it changed the way you feel or things you have done leading up to Christmas? Admittedly while I haven't actively done something related each day, just being aware and thinking about the challenge each day has been meaningful to me.  The small things that I have done, have made a difference.  I'm grateful for the church and their incredible modern day inspiration, so pertinent today.  Who know the influence this would have and how many it would affect.  According to LDS.org 1.5 million people have downloaded the light the world advent calendar, and I know many more are following in other ways.  If you take 1.5 million and multiply that by 25 for each day, that's a whole lot of influence to light the world.
