Just 18 days...

until Christmas! Can you believe it? Are you ready? Are you participating in 25 days, 25 ways? If not click here to get involved, or click here to download the 25 days advent calendar. It has been so uplifting to witness so much good going on.  I look forward to social media now as people are posting their favorite scripture, who they're praying for etc.  A great way to truly get ready for Christmas. If you do participate and want to post about it, remember to use the hashtag #lighttheworld

Thank you!!!

A big thank you to our leader Tonya Gardner and those on the RS meeting committee for the beautiful Christmas program last week.  It was an incredibly beautiful night, both the setting, and the messages of a Christ Centered Christmas with words and music.  The spirit was certainly there, as each member of the nativity and their purpose was discussed: Mary- Ponder, Joseph- Serve, the angel- good tidings of joy, the shepherd- to testify, the lamb- give thanks, the wise men- the journey we each take, and of course, The Christ Child- reminding us to offer a gift to the Lord this Christmas.  Thanks again for a beautiful, spirit filled evening.

Lesson Review

This Sunday our presidency lesson was taught by Emily Power.  She referenced a talk by Sheri Dew years ago called "Are You the Women I Think You Are?" found here. We discussed "meaningful prayer", and what that looks like.  How is our interaction with God? Does it need to change or increase? Does our spouse or children know of our prayers for each one of them? Do you immerse yourself in the scriptures? If not, today is a great day to begin.  If we increase our devotion to the Savior, our understanding and potential of who we are will naturally increase.  We were taught that prayers of the prophets are very simple and childlike.  We were encouraged to sometimes pray without asking for anything-letting our souls rejoice in thanksgiving.  The lesson reminded us that wherever we're at, God love us.  Sheri Dew when talking to President Hinckley once said, "our women are so good", and he responded by saying, "no Sheri, they aren't good, they are great!" Thank you Emily, for the message to be mindful with our prayers, and that we can improve from wherever we are.

Last Sunday was the First presidency devotional.  If you missed it, you can watch or listen to it here.

Sisters, just a reminder that while this holiday season is hopefully a time of light, joy and celebration, there are many who feel lost, lonely and depressed.  Please be prayerful and reach out to those you visit teach as well as anyone else you feel prompted to make contact with.  Remember that reaching out doesn't have to be a to huge gesture.  A call,  text, call, a hug, a lunch date... little things can make a big difference at this time.  We are grateful for the service that does happen in our ward and community.  Have a great week!
